Emotions, what are they? A chemical in your head creating feeling? Hah! Don’t make me laugh! I believe there is no possible way something that complex can be explained so simply. It’s true your Brain might trigger the start of emotions but I think that isn’t it. Ask this question, if emotions were in your head then how come when you’re hurt the pain is in your chest and not your head? I believe emotions are in a place unseen by humans. When you’re hurt, happy, or lost you feel something constrict in your chest. Sometimes you feel needles and other times it feels as though it isn’t there. Still no one knows exactly what causes this pain and why it is in your chest. You can get other feelings as well. Such as butterflies in your stomach, or feeling like it’s twisting around. And then there are tears. So small, so complex, and so pure. Each drop filled with emotion from your heart. After all your heart forces out the tears instead of your mind. But I need to say now tears aren’t just for the light of the heart. They aren’t just for weaklings, cowards, or babies. Oh, and big girls DO cry. You people place tears as a sign of weakness, but if you are crying for a good reason I see strength. First off I find it brave to cry in front of others. Although kids throwing a tantrum just because they didn’t get the pack of gum they wanted isn’t impressive. Tears of joy when you kiss that special someone for the first time, I find it beautiful. Tears when a family member is taken to the hospital with cancer, I find it beautiful. Tears when you tell your friend of something bad from you past, I still find it beautiful. Not having the fear to cry in front of others is braver than not crying at all. Containing emotions causes them to build up, like a bottle of soda. The more you shake it the more pressure builds up until the top flies off. Emotions can be the same way. If you hold them inside of you they eventually let themselves out. This can usually cause snapping at friends, getting more mad than usual, and sometimes locking yourself in your room and crying yourself to sleep. Now I come to the difference in emotion. They can be strong and weak, they can be violent or gentle and they can be complex or simple. Some emotions can be strong, such as anger, and some are weak such as happiness. Happiness can be easily broken apart while anger usually remains strong. Then you have hate as a violent emotion and concern as a gentle one. Some emotions are simple, like jealousy, and some can be complex such as the most complicated thing out there, love. Did you know that my life long question is ‘what is love?’ No, it’s not what’s the meaning of life because life finds its own meaning. And before you say you can answer think about the question more clearly. Love isn’t just an emotion; it isn’t just an action or any of that. Love is most powerful feeling out there. It can cause joy, pain, comfort, loneliness, confusion, trouble, and even hate in the end. And to be honest no one knows what it truly is. Love isn’t a game where everyone winds. No one has the perfect boyfriend/girlfriend. I can’t stand those happy love stories. Life isn’t that simple and neither is love. Bad things are going to happen, and fights will ensue. The only difference is that you can still love that person even after all of it happens. When you really love someone you’d do anything to ensure their happiness, even if that means you aren’t a part of it. You also point out their mistakes, even if they don’t like it. If you know the bible quote “Love is patient, love is kind…etc.” you notice nowhere in there it says love is perfect. Love can be hurtful but pushing on even when it hurts is when it truly finds some meaning. Emotions are amazing, complex, and I don’t think any amount of science will ever figure it out.
