Society is built on morals. They give us a sense of what’s right and wrong. If it’s something like stealing, or something like mass rape or murder. Morals have built a wall. A wall to keep us, as society, from straying to far away, and into danger. But a wall can not stand forever. In other words a new wall must be built. But to build, we must first remove the rubble left behind from the previous wall.
We as humans are only bound by our emotions. One of the strongest human emotions is fear. If this new ‘wall’ was to be built of fear, it may be stronger than the last. If law enforcement were to let go of most previous morals and beliefs and replace them with the exploitation of fear. In other words if society were to use fear to enforce law it may reduce crime.
If people were afraid of what might happen to them if they commit a crime they may not do it. Do not get confused. I did not mean to say if someone was afraid of going to prison they would not commit a crime. I meant if they were afraid of being killed on the spot.
If the only punishment was death, there would be no more crime.
However before anyone says anything, I am aware this would likely lead to revolt and war. And I am aware that with war, comes murder, rape and other crimes.
But what if alongside fear, was religion. If one were to exploit religion and fear it would surly be a new ‘wall’.
Now do not get me wrong. These are just thoughts, and nothing more.
