Hmm…where to start? For a game with such a bizarre title, it’s actually rather good. In my opinion, it’s very similar to the Quake series, for example, the rocket launcher and the shotgun both reduce the enemies to some meaty chunks on the floor. In the demo I downloaded, there are a variable selection of weapons, from a chainsaw to a sniper rifle. There’s a point. Picking up the chainsaw just after beginning the demo will trigger a phrase:
“Look ma, Ah’m a lumberjack!”, which I find rather amusing. The environments are almost fully destructible, as you can cut down, or just annihilate trees at the start of the level. Croteam made one hell of a game out of this. Gameplay consists of frenzied running around, blasting anything that moves. They created a vast array of enemy races, which are both original and unoriginal at the same time, if that makes sense. Every time you kill an enemy, details about the species are added to a computer, accessible from the game screen, along with information about the area the character is in, the weapons he owns and the current mission objectives. There is also an online feature, but that wasn’t accessible in the demo. I have not yet made it to the end, I quit because I had to review the game, not just play it all the time. Once I write this, I should have no problem playing through the game.
Croteam overuse the ‘serious’ gag. The difficulties ingame are: Tourist (Errr….get lost and ask for money?) Easy (yes, very.) Medium (I always saw that as a burger size) Hard (Need I say it?) and Serious. Yeah. Clicking the Quit button triggers a dialog box: “Are you serious?”
That word can get a little old. And run into the ground. Stop saying it, it’s getting a little muddy.

I suppose I’d better rate the game too. 8/10. Seriously.

The Final Fantasy series is one of the best RPG series in the universe. It’s pearless story-telling and gameplay makes me want to play them the day they came out. My personal favorite is Final Fantasy VII. Now I’ll probably get flooded with hate mail criticizing my choice on favorite FF game because I’m jumping on a bandwagon or something, however, like any other game, there are things about this game that drive me batty. One thing is the difficulty. It’s all over the place. One second you’re fighting a boss that barely does any damage and right after said boss you’re faced against the ULTIMA-KILLAH 900000000000 that can blast you’re entire party’s HP down to -478620959827 in one hit. What I do like is it’s characters. A lot of people prefer FF6 over FF7 but I think of FF6 more of a last practice run of story-telling before powering into FF7 with their new masters degree in story-telling. Why do I think this? Because there was way to much inconsistencies in story quality up until FF7. I enjoyed FF4, though FF5 was a stinker, and taht FF6 was getting things back into the Final Fantasy groove.

The thing I can’t stand about Pokemon is how all they do is remake the same game over and over with what? Different sprites? New Pokemon? Maybe a new font of two? Don’t get me wrong, I think the idea of Pokemon is a fair one but the only games I really like are the ones that wander off set Pokemon road. Those games being Pokemon Colloseum, Pokemon XD, and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. The game has an excellent battle system that meshes the tactial battles of Fire Emblem with RPG Turn-based like Final Fantasy. The story is original, at least it is if it’s compared to the “mainstream” Pokemon games. Then ending has to be one of my favorites again. The most perplexing thing is that it reminds me of old Disney friendship-is-good-you-can-do-anything-with-friendship style movies, and that’s just pain weird because when I watch those, I want to throw my tv out the window to stop the madness. One thing I don’t like is the lack of dialog from the main character, one of the reasons I’m hyped up about Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2, because it features more dialog coming from the main character. I’ll always have a hard time pointing out the bad things about the game because I love it so much. However, I don’t like it more than that…

I have always been fan of RPG Turn-based combat and before I play Paper Mario: TTYD I wasn’t a big Mario fan. I know the characters and the plot, but really didn’t give two craps about the plumber. That all changed when my friend convinced me to play Paper Mario: TTYD. Since then, I have been a Mario fan. At ties battles keep popping up when you’re just trying to get a door, but at the same time the battles have enough twists nad turns in the battle style to keep any RPG fan engaged long enough to get to said door. At the same time, your hands will get tired fast since you’re doing more that just selecting a attack and a target.
